for supporting Trump, analyst says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/img-assets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/GettyImages-2154735044-e1717260506990.jpg?w=2048\" \/><\/p>\n<div data-cy=\"article-content\">\n<p>While some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/features\/2024-05-31\/billionaires-back-trump-despite-guilty-verdict-in-hush-money-trial\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/features\/2024-05-31\/billionaires-back-trump-despite-guilty-verdict-in-hush-money-trial\" rel=\"noopener\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/features\/2024-05-31\/billionaires-back-trump-despite-guilty-verdict-in-hush-money-trial\" class=\"sc-424e8006-0 lagCOr\">Wall Street billionaires<\/a> are openly supporting Donald Trump\u2019s bid to return to the White House, most top executives at publicly traded companies are a different story, according to Pangaea Policy founder Terry Haines.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<p>The former president\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/05\/30\/donald-trump-guilty-hush-money-stormy-daniels\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/05\/30\/donald-trump-guilty-hush-money-stormy-daniels\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/05\/30\/donald-trump-guilty-hush-money-stormy-daniels\/\" class=\"sc-424e8006-0 lagCOr\" rel=\"noopener\">conviction on 34 felony counts<\/a> by a New York jury will lead to a \u201cmeasurable but small drip, drip, drip away from Trump\u201d among the overall electorate, he told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MxtPKQI-IRY\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MxtPKQI-IRY\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"sc-424e8006-0 lagCOr\">Bloomberg TV on Friday<\/a> after telling clients in note that it will also make attracting serious financial and political backing on Wall Street harder. <\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s despite billionaires like <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/blackstone-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/blackstone-group\/\" class=\"sc-424e8006-0 lagCOr\" rel=\"noopener\">Blackstone<\/a> CEO Stephen Schwarzman and Miriam Adelson supporting Trump, with and <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/05\/30\/donald-trump-guilty-billionaire-bill-ackman-ron-desantis-court-verdict\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/05\/30\/donald-trump-guilty-billionaire-bill-ackman-ron-desantis-court-verdict\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/05\/30\/donald-trump-guilty-billionaire-bill-ackman-ron-desantis-court-verdict\/\" class=\"sc-424e8006-0 lagCOr\" rel=\"noopener\">Pershing Square CEO Bill Ackman<\/a> slamming the hush-money trial and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/f85801ff-3de4-4c56-a729-6f585c08ef1d\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/f85801ff-3de4-4c56-a729-6f585c08ef1d\" rel=\"noopener\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/f85801ff-3de4-4c56-a729-6f585c08ef1d\" class=\"sc-424e8006-0 lagCOr\">reportedly leaning toward endorsing Trump<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<p>But Haines drew a distinction between billionaires like that and the heads of most other large, public companies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re looking for the average <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/ranking\/fortune500\/2023\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/ranking\/fortune500\/2023\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/ranking\/fortune500\/2023\/\" class=\"sc-424e8006-0 lagCOr\" rel=\"noopener\">Fortune 500<\/a> CEO or C-suite person who has to answer to shareholders, they\u2019re going to be awfully circumspect about how they put themselves out there or if they put themselves out there at all,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, they don\u2019t want to risk public blowback for supporting Trump, I think.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the conviction has sparked a <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/05\/31\/donald-trump-fundraising-campaign-website-crash\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/05\/31\/donald-trump-fundraising-campaign-website-crash\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/05\/31\/donald-trump-fundraising-campaign-website-crash\/\" class=\"sc-424e8006-0 lagCOr\" rel=\"noopener\">surge in fundraising<\/a> with the Republican Party\u2019s WinRed platform collapsing briefly on Thursday under the weight of grassroots donors.
