Meta is rolling out the new Tweetdeck-like column view to <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:1;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2023\/07\/introducing-threads-new-app-text-sharing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:all users;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:1;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a>, after it started <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/metas-threads-gets-its-own-tweetdeck-clone-172131218.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:testing;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a> the feature earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>The new look, which some Threads users have nicknamed \u201cThreadsDeck,\u201d allows you to pin up to 100 different feeds to the Threads home page. Each column can also be set to auto-update so you can follow new posts as they come in.<\/p>\n<p>While Tweetdeck fans will appreciate the familiarity, the new view also addresses some of the headaches of Threads\u2019 \u201cfor you\u201d algorithm. While the new column layout won\u2019t let you eliminate the \u201cfor you\u201d feed entirely, you can more easily hide it in the column view and put your \u201cfollowing\u201d feed and any others side-by-side. It also vastly increases the number of posts you can view at any one time, making it a much more practical view for finding real-time information.<\/p>\n<p>Threads\u2019 \u201cfor you\u201d feed has been a long-running source of complaints from many users, who question why the feed often seems to surface days-old posts and random stories from unconnected strangers instead of more timely updates. Meta\u2019s controversial decision to automatically <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/meta-limits-political-content-recommendations-on-instagram-and-threads-123033533.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:limit;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a> \u201cpolitical\u201d content in its recommendations is also often criticized.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the company does seem to recognize that users want to be able to find news and other timely updates.
