Fresh from his success at Caesars Palace, pastry chef Dominique Ansel is set to bring a new offering to Paris, Dominique Ansel Marche.<\/p>\n

Yes, technically it\u2019s \u201cMarch\u00e9,\u201d but we don\u2019t like accent marks. It\u2019s unclear why. Possibly, it\u2019s because we built Web sites when the Internet was first invented and accent marks would cause some browsers to implode.<\/p>\n

Dominique Ansel Marche opens in fall of 2024 in the former JJ\u2019s Boulangerie cafe space at Paris, near Martha Stewart\u2019s Bedford restaurant.<\/p>\n

The Internet says \u201cMarche\u201d can mean a few things in French. It can mean \u201cwalk\u201d or \u201cmarket\u201d or \u201cbargain\u201d or \u201cemporium\u201d or, yeah, it\u2019s probably \u201cmarket.\u201d<\/p>\n

The news release says, \u201cInspired by the sidewalk markets in France, Dominique Ansel Marche marks the launch of an entirely new concept from Chef Dominique, showcasing croissants and viennoiserie baked fresh each morning, made-to-order crepes, seasonal fresh fruit tarts and cakes, ice cream and more.\u201d<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t do that little tent (technically, circumflex) over the letter \u201ce\u201d in crepes, either.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a popular off-Strip restaurant in town called Marche Bacchus. In that case, there are two words you\u2019re probably pronouncing wrong. It\u2019s \u201cmar-shay baa-koo.\u201d Don\u2019t pretend an accent mark would\u2019ve helped with that one.<\/p>\n

While we\u2019re happy to hear Dominique Ansel Las Vegas has been successful, we\u2019re even more pleased when a company like Caesars Entertainment embraces humor as it did in social media for the announcement of Dominique Ansel Marche.<\/p>\n

We wrote a blog for Caesars Entertainment for several years, and let\u2019s just say at the time humor wasn\u2019t really beloved. Or even remotely grasped, really. When we launched the company\u2019s Pulse of Vegas blog, we wrote 100 blog posts before it went live just so they couldn\u2019t make us remove the jokes.<\/p>\n

What remained of the Pulse of Vegas blog, the precursor to this very Vital Vegas blog, was unceremoniously booted from the Internet<\/a> in 2021.\u00a0 Sadly, Las Vegas casinos have never really gotten the value of content marketing, and tend to be averse to the \u201csocial\u201d part of \u201csocial marketing.\u201d Deep sigh.<\/p>\n

The aversion to humor by many casinos is shocking, really, given snark is the most effective and trusted means of communication in the social media era, and casinos are supposed to be fun.<\/p>\n

Caesars Entertainment got a new owner, Eldorado, so the culture appears to have changed, thankfully.<\/p>\n

We do have a couple of thoughts about the Dominique Ansel video, however.<\/p>\n

First, the video shows a lack of sensitivity to the ongoing oppression of mimes in American culture. Back in the day, mimes were revered, and mime (or pantomime) was mentioned 40 times in one of the world\u2019s most popular historical documents, the Bible.<\/p>\n

Trust us, fellow youths, acts like Shields and Yarnell<\/a> were superstars a few decades ago, and Marcel Marceau<\/a> made mime an international phenomenon.<\/p>\n

We, personally, were an award-winning mime in high school. Yes, in answer to your question, bullying helped make us the psychological trainwreck we are today.<\/p>\n

Some teens had sex, we had pancake make-up and imaginary friends.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

More recently, we portrayed a mime in a \u201cMindfreak\u201d parody, \u201cMimefreak.\u201d<\/p>\n
