Kelly Hyland<\/strong> is ready to talk about her health. The Dance Moms<\/i><\/a> star revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer after discovering a lump in her breast.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went from clean results to a malignant mass in eight months,\u201d Kelly, 53, shared with E! News<\/i><\/a> in an interview published Wednesday, May 29. \u201cI was shocked that it had grown that quickly and scared of the battle I knew I was about to face.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelly found a lump in her breast in late March, nearly eight months after having a routine mammogram. Although she received clean results at her last appointment, the reality star\u2019s self-exam pushed her to book another mammogram. After more testing, Kelly\u2019s official diagnosis was invasive carcinoma stage 1, grade 3, meaning that her breast cancer is fast-moving.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of my former co-stars are aware of what is going on,\u201d Kelly \u2014 who hosts the \u201cDear Dance Mom\u2026<\/i>\u201d podcast<\/a> \u2014 shared. \u201cThey have been extremely supportive and are willing to film around my treatment schedule and how I\u2019m feeling. I\u2019m very lucky to have such great friends and a flexible job that allows me to keep some normalcy during all of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

When sharing her diagnosis on Instagram<\/a>, Kelly immediately received support from her Dance Moms<\/i> family including Kalani Hilliker<\/strong> and Maddie Ziegler<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cI love you and the kids. Forever have your back,\u201d Christi Lukasiak<\/strong> wrote in the comments section. Jill Vertes<\/strong> added, \u201cYou\u2019re so strong Kelly! Keep it up\ud83d\ude4f we are all here for you!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Currently on the second of six initial chemotherapy treatments, Kelly told E!<\/em> she has a long list of appointments and steps to go through. Doctors said surgery and radiation will likely follow after her initial rounds of chemotherapy are complete. Fortunately, Kelly has the help and support of friends and family including daughter Brooke Hyland<\/strong>, 26, son Josh Hyland<\/strong>, 25, and Paige Hyland<\/strong>, 23.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe toughest part for me has been accepting help from the people around me,\u201d she said. \u201cI am a very independent person and, as a mom, I\u2019m used to being the one taking care of people, not the one being taken care of.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you ask Kelly\u2019s kids, they are confident their mom will feel better soon. \u201cI feel very hopeful that it is only at stage one,\u201d Josh told E!<\/em> \u201cI feel like she caught it quickly. I know my mom is strong enough to get through this.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
