On April 12, OpenAI announced that premium ChatGTP users, which refers to those paying for Chat GTP Plus, Team or Enterprise, can now enjoy an upgraded version of the GPT-4 Turbo model.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The upgraded model, named\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gpt-4-turbo-2024-04-09\u201d has several improvements in writing, reasoning, mathematics, and coding. It also boasts a more up-to-date knowledge base, as it is trained on publicly available data up to December 2023. Comparatively, the previous edition of GPT-4 Turbo was only trained up to April 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">For example, when writing with ChatGPT, responses will be more direct, less verbose, and use more conversational language. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PHxrmCtpyl\">pic.twitter.com\/PHxrmCtpyl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 OpenAI (@OpenAI) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OpenAI\/status\/1778574615683719243?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 12, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0OpenAI added in an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OpenAI\/status\/1778574615683719243\">X post<\/a> that when generating written responses, ChatGPT\u00a0 will be \u201cmore direct, less verbose, and use more conversational language.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ChatGPT update comes amid a challenging month for OpenAI<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This ChatGPT update comes after a tense month for OpenAI. While its video-generating model, Sora, has <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/openai-unveils-sora-its-first-text-to-video-model\/\">caused a stir online<\/a>, it\u2019s also been dogged with <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/openai-and-google-accused-of-using-youtube-transcripts-for-ai\/\">accusations of copyright infringement<\/a> after Mira Murati, the CTO of OpenAI, said that he didn\u2019t know whether the training data for Sora included content from YouTube, Instagram or Facebook.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFrom a creator\u2019s perspective, when a creator uploads their hard work to our platform, they have certain expectations,\u201d YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said in an interview with<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-04-04\/youtube-says-openai-training-sora-with-its-videos-would-break-the-rules\"> Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u201cOne of those expectations is that the terms of service is going to be abided by. It does not allow for things like transcripts or video bits to be downloaded, and that is a clear violation of our terms of service. Those are the rules of the road in terms of content on our platform.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>But these accusations are far from new. In fact, OpenAI been the subject of numerous lawsuits. Most recently, the New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/openai-challenges-nyt-lawsuit-asserts-fair-use-in-ai-model-training\/\">filed a lawsuit<\/a> against the company for copyright infringement, while comedian Sarah Silverman was one of several authors who<a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/openai-faces-copyright-lawsuit-over-chatgpt-training-practices\/\"> sued OpenAI under California\u2019s unfair competition law<\/a>.
