Gerry Turner<\/strong><\/a> wasn\u2019t alone when it came to looking for love after loss. Theresa Nist<\/strong> was one of The Golden Bachelor<\/em> contestants<\/a> searching for a new love and a \u201cbest friend\u201d after losing her husband. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be alone anymore. I want to be in love again,\u201d the 70-year-old said in her introduction video. After weeks of getting to know Gerry, Theresa captured his heart.<\/p>\n

Gerry and Theresa<\/a> got married in The Golden Wedding<\/em>, a live TV special on January 4. Hollywood Life<\/strong> spoke exclusively<\/a> with Theresa about her wedding dress and more. Theresa admitted that the wedding dress she chose was \u201cnot exactly what\u201d she thought she\u2019d pick.<\/p>\n

The couple shocked fans on April 12, 2024, when they announced their split<\/a> after just three months of marriage, citing long distance as the reason.<\/p>\n

Theresa hails from Shrewsbury, New Jersey, and she made a memorable first impression with Gerry during the series premiere. Theresa came on\u00a0The Golden Bachelor<\/em><\/a> looking for \u201cthe real deal.\u201d She ultimately became Gerry\u2019s perfect match. Here\u2019s what you need to know about Theresa.<\/p>\n

Theresa Won \u2018The Golden Bachelor\u2019<\/h2>\n

Theresa first caught Gerry\u2019s eye during The Golden Bachelor<\/em> premiere. When Theresa walked out of the limo and up to Gerry, she surprised him by showing off her \u201cbirthday suit,\u201d which consisted of a tan slip under a black shawl. Later, Theresa and Gerry had some one-on-one time. She read Gerry a letter that her daughter had written to her before she came on the show.<\/p>\n

Gerry surprised Theresa with a cupcake in honor of her 70th birthday. He took a bite out of the cupcake, and they shared a passionate kiss. \u201cIt\u2019s been forever since I kissed a guy, and it felt incredible,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Theresa and Gerry\u2019s relationship continued to develop throughout the season. After their Fantasy Suite date, Theresa and Gerry had an honest discussion about their night together. \u201cEverything you said was a revelation, and it was pretty awesome,\u201d Gerry said to Theresa.<\/p>\n

Theresa gushed that it \u201cfelt so great waking up next to Gerry and that could be the first time that I woke up next to my husband.\u201d While relaxing in bed, Theresa told Gerry, \u201cIn case I haven\u2019t said it, I\u2019m crazy about you. I love you.\u201d Gerry told Theresa that he loved her the night before.<\/p>\n

During The Golden Bachelor<\/em> finale, Gerry chose to be with Theresa over Leslie Fhima<\/strong><\/a>. Gerry proposed to Theresa in Costa Rica. Host Jesse Palmer<\/strong> told the couple that the show would be sending them on a trip to Italy next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can use that as our honeymoon trip because we are going to get married,\u201d Gerry said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to do it as quickly as we can because, at our age, we don\u2019t have a lot of time to waste. As quickly as we can put together a wedding plan, we\u2019re getting married.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gerry and Theresa will tie the knot in a live TV ceremony on January 4, 2024. Fellow Golden Bachelor<\/em> contestant Susan Noles<\/strong><\/a> will officiate the ceremony. Following their wedding, Gerry and Theresa are going to settle down in their forever home.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to buy a house,\u201d Gerry told Hollywood Life<\/strong>. \u201cAnd of course, we\u2019re working backwards from that. When do I want to sell my house? When does Theresa want to sell? What locations do we want to look at? I\u2019m all of a sudden really thinking that New Jersey is a great place. It\u2019s a two-hour plane ride from Indianapolis. It\u2019s a great choice. So we have places to look.\u201d<\/p>\n

Theresa Works in Finance<\/h2>\n

Theresa \u201ctaught herself all about the stock market,\u201d according to her ABC bio<\/a>. She is a financial services professional. Theresa currently works as an investment advisor<\/a> for Tfs Securities, Inc., based out of Lincroft, New Jersey. She\u2019s also worked for Metlife Securities Inc. and Metropolitan Life Insurance.<\/p>\n

Theresa Is a Widow<\/h2>\n

Theresa was married to William \u201cBill\u201d Nist<\/strong> for 42 years. Like Gerry, Theresa lost her first great love. Bill passed away in 2014. Theresa\u2019s daughter, Jen<\/strong>, penned a heartfelt tribute<\/a> to her father on the 8th anniversary of his death in November 2022.<\/p>\n

On the 9th anniversary of Bill\u2019s death, Theresa shared a touching message about her late husband. \u201cBilly and I met when I was 14 and he was 16,\u201d she wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cWe got married at 18 and 20. He was stationed in Berlin during the Vietnam war. I took my first plane ride and we lived there for almost a year. Living in Berlin, I realize now and at the time, was a once in the lifetime experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Theresa Has Two Kids<\/h2>\n

Theresa is a mother to a son named Tommy<\/strong> and a daughter named Jen<\/strong>. According to their Instagram pages, Tommy and Jen both have three sons, making Theresa a grandmother to six grandsons.<\/p>\n
