J. Cole<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>seemed to retract his diss against\u00a0Kendrick Lamar<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>just days after dropping it! While on stage at his Dreamville Festival in North Carolina, J. Cole admitted that the track \u201c7 Minute Drill\u201d from his surprise-released album Might Delete Later\u00a0<\/em>wasn\u2019t his proudest moment during his set on Sunday, April 7. While he said that he was \u201cproud\u201d of most of the album, that closer was not his brightest moment. \u201cIt\u2019s one part of that s**t that make me feel like, man, that\u2019s the lamest s**t I ever did in my f**king life, right?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The \u201cNo Role Modelz\u201d rapper, 39, went on to say that when Kendrick, 36, dissed him and Drake<\/strong><\/a> in his guest verse on Future\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Metro Boomin\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>song \u201cLike That,\u201d it lit a fire under him. He admitted to feeling \u201cconflicted\u201d after hearing the diss. \u201cI know how I feel about my peers, these two n****s that I just been blessed to even stand beside in this game [Drake and Kendrick Lamar], let alone\u00a0chase, chase they greatness, right? So, I felt conflicted \u2019cause I\u2019m like,\u00a0bruh,\u00a0I know I don\u2019t really feel no way. But the world wanna see blood!\u201d he said, via\u00a0Pitchfork<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

J. Cole continued and said that he was just trying to stir some friendly competition, but he felt \u201cbad\u201d about the way he did it, and it didn\u2019t \u201csit right with my spirit.\u201d He then ended by showing some love to K. Dot. \u201cHow many people think Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest motherf**kers to ever touch a f**king microphone? Dreamville, y\u2019all love Kendrick Lamar, correct?\u201d he said. \u201cAs do I.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kendrick\u2019s beef with J. Cole and Drake started when the Born Sinner<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>rapper shouted him out in a guest verse on Drake\u2019s song \u201cFirst Person Shooter.\u201d Kendrick clapped back on \u201cLike That,\u201d by declaring himself the best. \u201cMotherf**k the big three,\u201d he rapped. \u201cIt\u2019s just big me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Weeks after Kendrick\u2019s dig, J. Cole responded with \u201c7 Minute Drill,\u201d where he dug into different albums in Kendrick\u2019s discography. \u201cHe still doin\u2019 shows but fell off like\u00a0The Simpsons,<\/em>\u201d he rapped. \u201cIf he wasn\u2019t dissin\u2019, we wouldn\u2019t be discussin\u2019 him.\u201d<\/p>\n
