{"id":220869,"date":"2024-04-05T15:47:14","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T15:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/michigandigitalnews.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/05\/disney-set-to-act-on-password-sharing-starting-in-june\/"},"modified":"2025-06-25T17:19:14","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T17:19:14","slug":"disney-set-to-act-on-password-sharing-starting-in-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michigandigitalnews.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/05\/disney-set-to-act-on-password-sharing-starting-in-june\/","title":{"rendered":"Disney+ set to act on password sharing, starting in June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/pexels-bo-shou-6921010-900x600.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Disney has vowed to crack down on password sharing for its Disney+ streaming service as part of a drive to increase subscriber numbers and turn a profit for the business.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney conglomerate outlined how changes will take effect in June in some jurisdictions with a wider enforcement of login credentials to be applied by September.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2024\/04\/04\/disney-ceo-bob-iger-on-streaming-we-have-to-turn-it-into-a-growth-business.html\">Speaking to CNBC<\/a>, Iger tipped his hat toward rival service <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/netflix-takes-dig-at-amazon-over-prime-video-ads-plan\/\">Netflix<\/a> after it brought in similar curbs on password sharing, resulting in a massive addition of 100,000 new accounts just two days after its crackdown was applied.<\/p>\n<p>He stated, \u201cNetflix is the gold standard in streaming. They\u2019ve done a phenomenal job in a lot of different directions. I actually have very, very high regard for what they\u2019ve accomplished.
