In a new court filing, Angelina Jolie<\/strong><\/a> has accused her ex-husband Brad Pitt<\/strong> <\/a>of having a \u201chistory of physical abuse\u201d against her before their alleged plane 2016 altercation<\/a>. The 48-year-old actress\u2019 legal team filed paperwork on Thursday, April 4, against the 60-year-old actor.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile Pitt\u2019s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family\u2019s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well,\u201d the Salt<\/em> actress\u2019 lawyers said, according to documents obtained by multiple outlets<\/a>. \u201cJolie then immediately left him,\u201d her lawyers added in the paperwork.<\/p>\n

Jolie\u2019s attorneys also claimed that Pitt wanted her to \u201ccontractually bind herself\u201d to silence after he found out in 2021 that she submitted a sealed filing of their legal situation containing \u201cemails, summaries of the family\u2019s expected testimony and other evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement to Page Six<\/em><\/a>, Jolie\u2019s lawyer Paul Murphy alleged, \u201cMr. Pitt refused to purchase Ms. Jolie\u2019s interest when she would not be silenced by his NDA. By refusing to buy her interest but then suing her, Mr. Pitt put directly at issue why that NDA was so important to him and what he hoped it would bury: his abuse of Ms. Jolie and their family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pitt has not publicly responded to Jolie\u2019s new court filing.<\/p>\n

In October 2022, Jolie accused her ex-husband of physically abusing her and their children on a flight back to California in 2016. According to court documents obtained by Hollywood Life<\/strong> from the Los Angeles Superior Court, Jolie claimed that she and Pitt got into an argument in the bathroom of the plane, where he allegedly \u201cgrabbed [her] by the head and shook her.\u201d He then allegedly pushed her against the wall of the bathroom and\u00a0\u201cpunched the ceiling of the plane numerous times.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of Pitt and Jolie\u2019s six children \u2014 Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne<\/a> \u2014 defended Jolie, and Pitt allegedly \u201cchoked one of his children and struck another.\u201d In the documents at the time, the child\u2019s name was redacted. Jolie also accused Pitt of \u00a0\u201cpouring beer and red wine on the children.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time, the F.B.I. had opened an investigation into the incident. However, Pitt did not face criminal charges. He also vehemently denied Jolie\u2019s claims. A rep for the Oscar winner told CNN<\/a> in 2022 that Jolie\u2019s \u201cstory continues to evolve each time she tells it with new, unsubstantiated claims. Brad has accepted responsibility for what he did but will not for things he didn\u2019t do. These new allegations are completely untrue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pitt and Jolie were married from 2014 to 2019.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
