We\u2019re one step closer to the Joker sequel we\u2019ve been craving. The highly-anticipated sequel Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux <\/em><\/a>has wrapped filming as of April 2023. Joaquin Phoenix<\/strong><\/a> and Lady Gaga<\/strong><\/a> are going to knock our socks off as Joker and Harley Quinn.<\/p>\n

Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/em> is the upcoming sequel to 2019\u2019s Joker, <\/em>which starred the Academy Award winner but did not feature The Crime Queen of Gotham City, Harley Quinn. The Grammy winner was reported to be in \u201cearly talks\u201d to play the role <\/a>in summer 2022 and confirmed the news when she tweeted a teaser video.<\/a><\/p>\n

Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux\u00a0<\/em>wrapped filming on April 5, 2023. Todd and Gaga shared new photos of Harley and Joker to celebrate. \u201cThat\u2019s a wrap. Fans were gifted their first look at Harley Quinn and the Joker in the upcoming Joker<\/em>\u00a0<\/a>sequel on Valentine\u2019s Day 2023 when the movie\u2019s director, Todd Phillips<\/strong>\u00a0shared an image to his Instagram<\/a> of Harley cradling Joker\u2019s face just inches from her own. The pair appeared to just get done locking lips, as Joker\u2019s red lipstick was smeared on Harley\u2019s lips. The photo, which can be seen here<\/a>, was also shared by Gaga. She captioned it with the film\u2019s title.<\/p>\n

Over the course of filming, Gaga and Joaquin were spotted filming all over New York. They were notably seen filming on the iconic Joker stairs<\/a>, which are located in The Bronx.<\/p>\n

Todd revealed Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/em> began filming on December 10, 2022. He took to Instagram to share the news with a photo<\/a> of Joaquin getting his face shaved. \u201cDay 1. Our boy. #joker,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux\u00a0<\/em>is set to be released on October 4, 2024. Joker<\/em> was originally intended to be a standalone film, but the movie\u2019s success led to a sequel getting the green light. In the months after Joker\u2019s release, reports about a sequel being developed went around. In June 2022, Todd confirmed Joker 2<\/em> by posting photos on Instagram<\/a> of the official script and Joaquin reading it.<\/p>\n

Who Is In The Cast Of Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/em>?<\/h2>\n

We have Arthur Fleck, a.k.a. the Joker and Harley Quinn accounted for, but who else is expected to be in the highly-anticipated film? Zazie Beetz<\/strong> is returning as Sophie Dumond, the single mother who resides in the same apartment building as Arthur. The Joker created a fantastical relationship with her in the 2019 film, which abruptly ended when she found him in her apartment.<\/p>\n

Zazie, Gaga, and Joaquin\u2019s parts are the only ones named on the film\u2019s IMDb<\/a> page, although other names are listed. Brendan Gleeson<\/strong>, Catherine Keener<\/strong>, Harry Lawtey<\/strong>, and Jacob Lofland<\/strong> are also listed higher up in the movie\u2019s roster of actors, but their parts are not revealed. Harry, known for the HBO series Industry<\/em>, has a \u201cbig\u201d role in the film, according to Deadline<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Along with the casting, the plot of Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux<\/em> has been kept under wraps. However, fans know it is a musical. \u201cIt\u2019s an interesting decision. And I think it\u2019s really exciting to see how it unfolds. And I think it\u2019s somehow logical at the same time. It\u2019s both logical and also very surprising,\u201d composer Hildur Gu\u00f0nad\u00f3ttir<\/strong> told Variety<\/em> <\/a>in January 2023. \u201cFor me as well as the audience. So far it\u2019s just been a really beautiful conversation and I\u2019m really excited to see how it unfolds.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gaga\u2019s Harley \u201cexists in a different DC universe than Margot Robbie\u2019s Harley Quinn,\u201d according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>. Case solved!<\/p>\n
