Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong><\/a> is aware of the criticism surrounding her latest album, Cowboy Carter<\/em><\/a>. Though countless Beyhive fans love the new sound, critics have slammed it. Nevertheless, the 42-year-old music super star kept her head up high while accepting the Innovator Award at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards<\/a> on Monday, April 1.<\/p>\n

For the evening, Bey wore an all-black cowgirl-themed outfit, complete with a hat and leather belted jacket. Before approaching the stage to accept her award, Stevie Wonder<\/strong><\/a> presented the \u201cTexas Hold \u2018Em\u201d artist with the recognition. She, of course, thanked the \u201cIsn\u2019t She Lovely\u201d artist, 73, for his contributions to the music industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for making a wave for all of us,\u201d Beyonc\u00e9 told Stevie on stage. \u201cI\u2019m honored to receive this recognition from you. Whenever anyone asks me if there\u2019s anyone I could listen to for the rest of my life, it\u2019s always you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bey then began her speech by explaining the meaning behind the Innovator Award.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to iHeartRadio. Tonight you call me an innovator, and for that I\u2019m very grateful,\u201d Bey said. \u201cInnovation starts with a dream, but then you have to execute that dream, and that road can be very bumpy. Being an innovator is seeing what everyone believes is impossible. Being an innovator often means being criticized, which often will test your mental strength.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though she did not refer to what she\u2019s been \u201ccriticized\u201d for, some have openly expressed their disdain for the Grammy Award winner\u2019s new music, including Azealia Banks<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing an innovator is leaning on faith, and trusting that God will catch you and guide you,\u201d Bey continued in her speech. \u201cSo, to all the record labels, every radio station, every awards show \u2014 my hope is that we\u2019re more open to the joy and liberation that comes from enjoying art with no preconceived notions. I want to dedicate this award to all the innovators who have dedicated their lives and their art to creating shifts.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cIf I Were a Boy\u201d hitmaker concluded by thanking other innovators for their \u201csacrifices, your powerful voices, and your dauntless spirits.\u201d She then shouted out her husband, Jay-Z,<\/strong><\/a> and their children, Blue Ivy Carter, Sir and Rumi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy husband, my rock, my best friend, I love you,\u201d Bey said. \u201cMy three beautiful children who continue to be my inspiration and my biggest blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
