X <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/help.twitter.com\/en\/rules-and-policies\/media-policy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:permits;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a>users to share nudity and other \u201cgraphic\u201d content, but doesn\u2019t allow it to appear in certain parts of the app, like profile photos and cover images for Communities.<\/p>\n<p>X\u2019s Communities feature predates Musk\u2019s takeover of the company. Twitter began experimenting with the idea <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:5;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/twitter-communities-170039437.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:in 2021;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:5;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a>, saying it would provide \u201ca more intimate space for conversations\u201d on the platform. Though Twitter never publicly discussed enabling NSFW features for Communities, the app allowed adult content, unlike most of its social media peers. The company reportedly looked into creating an OnlyFans competitor with its creator subscription product in 2022. The plan was eventually scrapped, <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:6;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/23327809\/twitter-onlyfans-child-sexual-content-problem-elon-musk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:according to;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:6;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a> the <em>Platformer<\/em> newsletter, due to concerns it would \u201cworsen\u201d the company\u2019s problems with illegal child exploitation content.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not clear if X\u2019s current leadership has addressed those concerns.
