Billie Eilish<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s latest interview about the music industry is having Swifties buzzing. The 22-year-old Oscar winner emphasized how \u201cwasteful\u201d it is for \u201csome artists\u201d to release vinyl records. Though she didn\u2019t mention any celebrity by name, some fans believe<\/a> that Billie was referring to Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>, since the 34-year-old Eras Tour<\/em> pop star announced multiple editions of her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe live in this day and age where, for some reason, it\u2019s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging \u2026 which ups the sales and ups the numbers and gets them more money and gets them more \u2026\u201d Billie told Billboard<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, March 28. \u201cIt\u2019s so wasteful, and it\u2019s irritating to me that we\u2019re still at a point where you care that much about your numbers and you care that much about making money \u2014 and it\u2019s all your favorite artists doing that s**t.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cWhat Was I Made For?\u201d hitmaker further stressed that she \u201ccan\u2019t even expressed\u201d how \u201cwasteful it is\u201d for top artists in the business to release several vinyl editions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is right in front of our faces, and people are just getting away with it left and right, and I find it really frustrating as somebody who really goes out of my way to be sustainable and do the best that I can and try to involve everybody in my team in being sustainable,\u201d Billie said, adding, \u201cAnd then it\u2019s some of the biggest artists in the world making f**king 40 different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Billie then recalled watching The Hunger Games<\/em> recently, which led her to think about this problem, \u201cbecause it\u2019s like, we\u2019re all going to do it because [it\u2019s] the only way to play the game. It\u2019s just accentuating this already kind of messed up way of this industry working.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Taylor announced the news of her upcoming album at the Grammys. <\/a>During her worldwide tour, the \u201cLove Story\u201d artist announced several new editions of the album: \u201cThe Bolter\u201d and \u201cBlack Dog.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Billie, she released her 2021 album, Happier Than Ever,<\/em> in vinyl, but the multiple versions were sold with recycled black vinyl and were wrapped in sugar cane-made shrink wrap. The colored editions of her album were sold with other recycled materials.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
