Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura has announced he is entering the cannabis market as a seller, as the state\u00a0still figures out retail sales<\/a>\u00a0of the drug on the heels of legalizing marijuana for adults last year.<\/p>\n Ventura is launching his own brand of cannabis edibles in partnership with Retro Bakery, which is based in suburban Minneapolis and producing hemp-derived THC edibles under the Jesse Ventura Farms brand,\u00a0Minnesota Public Radio reported.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cVentura Farms is my foray into the world of cannabis,\u201d Ventura\u00a0said in a Wednesday video<\/a>\u00a0with rock music playing in the background.<\/p>\n He added, \u201cI\u2019m a huge supporter of the cannabis industry. Cannabis saved my family\u2019s life. And now it\u2019s time for me to return to the cannabis world. And you can join me \u2014 Jesse Ventura and Ventura Farms \u2014 any time you want. We\u2019re in the game.\u201d<\/p>\n Ventura has said the drug helped his wife get her seizures under control, MPR reported. Retro Bakery said the Ventura-branded edibles will be available for pre-order on April 1, according to MPR.<\/p>\n A former professional wrestler and actor, Ventura\u00a0shocked the public<\/a>\u00a0when he won the race for Minnesota governor as an independent candidate in 1998. He served as governor from 1999 to 2003.<\/p>\n Ventura was\u00a0one of the first governors<\/a>\u00a0in the U.S. to openly support marijuana legalization.<\/p>\n Last year, Minnesota became the 23rd state to legalize recreational marijuana for adults.<\/p>\n This month, the state\u2019s top cannabis regulator said Minnesota\u00a0probably won\u2019t meet its goal<\/a>\u00a0of launching full-scale retail marijuana sales in the first quarter of 2025 because of the time it will take to draft regulations and issue licenses.<\/p>\n Using, possessing and growing marijuana for personal use, within limits,\u00a0became legal last August.<\/a>\u00a0But sales are still a legal gray area.<\/p>\n Currently, only a few tribally owned\u00a0on-reservation shops<\/a>\u00a0are legally allowed to sell recreational marijuana in Minnesota because tribal sovereignty exempts them from state regulation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\nSubscribe to the new Fortune CEO Weekly Europe newsletter to get corner office insights on the biggest business stories in Europe.
