Ryan Gosling<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s fans have noticed Eva Mendes<\/strong><\/a>\u2018 absence from his red carpet events (including his iconic \u201cI\u2019m Just Ken\u201d<\/a> Oscars event), but the pair came to an unspoken \u201cagreement\u201d after welcoming their children for her to step away from acting to focus on motherhood, Eva explained during a recent TODAY<\/em><\/a> appearance. Ryan, 43, and Eva, 50, share daughters Esmeralda and Amada<\/a> together.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was almost just like a non-verbal agreement that it was like, \u2018OK, he\u2019s going to work, and I\u2019m going to work. I\u2019m just going to work here,’\u201d Eva explained on Tuesday, March 26. \u201cHe went and he did his job. He just happens to be really good at his job. And he did it, and he came home.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for how it felt to stop auditioning to focus on raising her kids, Eva noted it was \u201clike a no-brainer\u201d for her. \u201cI\u2019m so lucky if I could have this time with my children,\u201d she pointed out.<\/p>\n

Eva Mendes opened up to TODAY about her now-partner Ryan Gosling: <\/p>\n

Ryan and Eva first met in 2011 on the set of their film, The Place Beyond the Pines<\/em>. While rehashing how it felt working with the Canadian actor, the Miami native described how Ryan approaches his craft as an actor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have never experienced anything like that. The way he works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best as it could be, and that means making his co-stars as best as they could be,\u201d Eva explained. \u201cBut unfortunately, or fortunately, there is only one Ryan. So, I pretty much stopped just acting after that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eva has been one of Ryan\u2019s biggest cheerleaders throughout his career, while the Notebook<\/em> actor has also shown gratitude and love<\/a> for the mother of his children. In January, Eva slammed harsh critics<\/a> over their insults about Ryan\u2019s portrayal as Ken in Barbie<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo proud of my man,\u201d Eva wrote via Instagram at the time alongside a screenshot of a headline that called Ryan\u2019s Ken a \u201ccringe\u201d portrayal. \u201cSo much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to [the] Oscars.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eva ended her post by pointing out how \u201cbeyond proud\u201d she is to be \u201cthis Ken\u2019s Barbie.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
