Now the company has decided to give some of its Enterprise Edition devices even longer support.

Tablets launched in 2024 or later will receive 8 years of support. Currently, this boils down to just the Galaxy Tab Active5, which launched in January, but there will be new models going forward, of course.

For Enterprise phones like the Galaxy Xcover7, Samsung will provide 7 years of support, just like the S24 series for consumers. Note that at launch the Tab Active and the Xcover were only promised 4 OS updates and 5 years of support.

Enterprise devices: 8 years of support for new tablets • 7 years for new phones (2024 and newer)

This news was shared on LinkedIn by a Samsung exec from the Netherlands. It’s not clear whether this will trickle down to consumer tablets, but Galaxy S phones going forward already match the 7 years of the Xcover. It’s tablets that are the issue – even premium slates like the Galaxy Tab S9 series only get 4 OS updates and 5 years of patches. That was the case for the 2023 Galaxy S phones too, maybe the Tab S10 series (coming later this year) will also be bumped up to 7 (or maybe 8?) years.

Source (login required) | Via 1 | Via 2

[ad_2]

Source link

[ad_1] With the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung extended the software support for certain phones to 7 years (both OS updates and security

[165
