Now it seems the 2022 flagships could still get a taste of Galaxy AI, although nothing is set in stone just yet. Samsung’s President of the Mobile Division TM Roh told a general shareholders’ meeting that the company is actively looking for ways to bring the Galaxy AI features to older phones.

The problem is that while some of the functionality is cloud based, some of it is on-device, and apparently that’s the hurdle for implementation on the S22 family. Then again, the S23 FE, which is getting Galaxy AI, has the same chipsets as the S22 models, which aren’t. According to Roh, “a lot of effort” is needed in order to make this happen, but Samsung is investing resources into this task.

So it’s not a given that the S22 family will get Galaxy AI, but it’s being worked on. The outcome still seems to be up in the air, but we’ll let you know if more information surfaces.

On a different topic, TM Roh confirmed that Samsung is still working on rollable and slideable devices, steadily pursuing pre-launch steps like research and patents. Interestingly, it seems like the company is being way more cautious about launching new form factors right now than it’s ever been. It’s still working on them, but is in no rush to get them to market.

Source (in Korean)

[ad_2]

Source link

[ad_1] Samsung’s Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra launched this year infused with Galaxy AI features, and the company has since promised these will arrive

[165
