Carl Icahn has decided not to launch a fresh proxy fight at DNA sequencing company Illumina<\/a> Inc. this year, a person familiar with the matter said.<\/p>\n

The activist investor didn\u2019t nominate directors for seats on the board of Illumina before a deadline to do so passed, the person said, asking not to be identified discussing confidential information.<\/p>\n

A representative for Illumina declined to comment, while a spokesperson for Icahn Enterprises<\/a> LP couldn\u2019t immediately be reached for comment. Icahn\u2019s decision was reported earlier on Tuesday by Reuters.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Icahn considered nominating as many as seven candidates at Illumina, Bloomberg News\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0in December, after blaming the company\u2019s management for its handling of the\u00a0failed<\/a>\u00a0acquisition of cancer detection startup Grail<\/a> Inc.<\/p>\n

Last year, the activist\u00a0succeeded<\/a>\u00a0in having his nominee Andrew Teno elected to Illumina\u2019s board.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
