Even a royal can accidentally botch a photo. Princess Kate<\/strong><\/a> admitted in a new public statement that she tried \u201cediting\u201d her recent Mother\u2019s Day family photo that was previously shared to Instagram earlier this weekend. The original post was a snapshot of Kate, 42, with her and Prince William<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,\u201d Kate wrote via X and her Instagram Stories. \u201cI wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother\u2019s Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hours earlier, social media users pondered over the authenticity of the sweet family photo because of an apparent misalignment with Princess Charlotte\u2019s hand in addition to other noticeable mistakes. Many people even speculated that the image was AI-generated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe same people who bashed Megan Markle for breathing in air are the same people saying \u2018who cares\u2019 after their Kate Middleton posted an AI-generated picture in an official photo release to the public,\u201d one X user tweeted on Sunday, March 10, adding, \u201cThere was no need to deceive the public. She didn\u2019t have to post anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others chimed in with the same argument. One asked, \u201cSo, who else thinks this Kate Middleton with her kids photo is put together by AI?\u201d while a separate user tweeted, \u201cWho else thinks the whole photo of Kate Middleton released by Kensington Palace was AI-generated?\u201d<\/p>\n

The concerns became widespread enough for multiple agencies and news outlets \u2014 including the Associated Press \u2014 to remove the picture from their websites. Per PEOPLE<\/em><\/a>, the AP issued a \u201ckill notification\u201d for any site that used the photo, warning journalists that upon \u201ccloser inspection, it appears that the source has manipulated the image. No replacement photo will be sent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the online drama, a source told the outlet that Kate\u2019s photo flub truly consisted of \u201cminor adjustments\u201d to the \u201camateur, family photograph taken by the Prince of Wales.\u201d The royal pair\u2019s only intention was \u201cto offer an informal picture of the family together for Mother\u2019s Day. The family spent Mother\u2019s Day together and had a wonderful day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kate\u2019s Photoshop ordeal comes two months after she was hospitalized for a \u201cplanned abdominal\u201d surgery<\/a>. Although Kensington Palace has insisted that the royal is doing well and will resume her public duties by April, fans are concerned about her well being.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
