Jason Kelce<\/strong><\/a> has officially hung up his football gear. The now-former NFL center<\/a>, 36, announced his retirement after playing with the Philadelphia Eagles for more than a decade. In a tearful March 4, 2024, press conference, Jason<\/a> detailed his decision while recollecting his best memories with the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, this all brings us here to today where I announce that I am retiring from the NFL, after 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles,\u201d he concluded. \u201cAnd today, I must admit, I am officially overrated. Vastly overrated. It took a lot of hard work and determination getting here. I have been the underdog my entire career and I mean this when I say it, I wish I still was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why Did Jason Kelce Retire?<\/h2>\n

After his emotional announcement, Jason sat down with his brother, Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a>, to talk about his decision to leave the NFL on their \u201cNew Heights<\/a>\u201d podcast. Since the brothers played for rival teams \u2014 Travis serving as the Kansas City Chiefs\u2019 tight end \u2013 their brotherly bond was a highlight for football fans everywhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a long time coming,\u201d Jason revealed to his brother. \u201cI\u2019ve debated retiring for the last few seasons, so I think it got to the point where I knew that that\u2019s what I wanted to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then confessed that \u201cin previous years,\u201d he would \u201creach out to other guys\u201d and ask, \u201cHey, how do you know when you want to stop playing?\u201d<\/p>\n
