Dakota Johnson<\/strong><\/a> is aware of all the hate that Madame Web<\/em><\/a> has received, but c\u2019est la vie. In a new interview, the 34-year-old actress got candid about the movie business but is focused on prioritizing her personal life. In fact, Dakota made a rare comment about being a stepmom to her boyfriend Chris Martin<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s kids and their life together<\/a> in Malibu.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart,\u201d she told Bustle<\/em><\/a> in the interview that was published on Tuesday, March 5. In a separate comment, Dakota referred to her \u201cstepson,\u201d whom is likely Chris\u2019 son, Moses. The Coldplay artist, 47, also shares daughter Apple<\/a> with his ex Gwyneth Paltrow<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dakota and Chris have been quietly dating since 2017.<\/p>\n

The How to Be Single<\/em> star shifted gears by discussing her latest film, Madame Web<\/em><\/a>. According to feverish reminders across the internet, the all-female action movie was a box office flop, which Dakota said she is \u201cnot surprised\u201d about.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, I\u2019m not surprised that this has gone down the way it has,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s so hard to get movies made, and in these big movies that get made \u2014 and it\u2019s even starting to happen with the little ones, which is what\u2019s really freaking me out \u2014 decisions are being made by committees, and art does not do well when it\u2019s made by committee.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cFilms are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around them. You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms. My feeling has been for a long time that audiences are extremely smart, and executives have started to believe that they\u2019re not. Audiences will always be able to sniff out bullshit. Even if films start to be made with AI, humans aren\u2019t going to f**king want to see those.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film business has been battling the impending doom of how artificial intelligence could cost artists their jobs and ultimately impact how movies are made.<\/p>\n

Madame Web says to Young Uncle Ben \u201cwhat, you don\u2019t wanna get shot in queens?\u201d in their first scene together. Just in case you wanted to know what kind of movie it is<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people who run streaming platforms don\u2019t trust creative people or artists to know what\u2019s going to work, and that is just going to make us implode,\u201d Dakota added in her interview, before adding, \u201cIt\u2019s really heartbreaking. It\u2019s just f**king so hard. It\u2019s so hard to get anything made. All of the stuff I\u2019m interested in making is really different, and it\u2019s unique and it\u2019s very forward in whatever it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for working on Madame Web<\/em>, Dakota noted, \u201cBut it was definitely an experience for me to make that movie. I had never done anything like it before.\u201d Nevertheless, she said, \u201cI probably will never do anything like it again because I don\u2019t make sense in that world. And I know that now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it\u2019s one thing and then as you\u2019re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you\u2019re like, \u2018Wait, what?’\u201d the Fifty Shades of Grey<\/em> star pointed out. \u201cBut it was a real learning experience, and of course it\u2019s not nice to be a part of something that\u2019s ripped to shreds, but I can\u2019t say that I don\u2019t understand [why it\u2019s been criticized].\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
