For almost 20 years, there was limited chatter about a potential\u00a0Freaky Friday<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>sequel. Fans absolutely adored the Mark Waters<\/strong>-directed comedy film that came out in 2003 starring Jamie Lee Curtis<\/strong><\/a> and Lindsay Lohan<\/strong><\/a> as a mother and daughter, who switch bodies thanks to a magical Chinese fortune cookie. But when Lindsay stepped away from acting<\/a>, it seemed like a sequel would never happen.<\/p>\n

Lindsay made her acting comeback in 2022 with the holiday movie Falling for Christmas,<\/i><\/a> which inspired Jamie Lee to finally admit that she was\u00a0in touch with Disney<\/a> about making a\u00a0Freaky Friday <\/em>sequel. Lindsay later confirmed she was onboard<\/a>, and eventually confirmed that the project was in development!<\/p>\n

Will There Be A Freaky Friday 2<\/em>?<\/h2>\n

Disney put Freaky Friday 2<\/em> into the works, according to a Variety<\/em><\/a> report in May of 2023! The outlet reported that two decades later, Jamie Lee and Lindsay are set to return in their original roles, with Elyse Hollander<\/strong> creating the screenplay. Nearly a year later, Lindsay confirmed the news during an interview on Andy Cohen\u2019s SiriusXM show in March 2024. After the host asked her whether the project was greenlit, Lindsay replied, \u201cIt is. I don\u2019t want to say too much, but it\u2019s [happening]. And we\u2019re both excited. I\u2019m gonna speak for Jamie.\u201d<\/p>\n
