After playing Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump<\/a> <\/em>and overseeing a slew of charities for military servicepersons, Gary Sinise<\/strong> has become synonymous with supporting veterans. Moira was born in Pontiac, Illinois in 1954. Like Gary, she caught the acting bug at an early age and studied drama in college at Illinois State University, where she met her future husband.<\/p>\n

She Is Also An Actress<\/h2>\n

Moira has been featured in television series like The Equalizer<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Karen Sisco<\/em>. according to her IMDB<\/em><\/a>. She\u2019s also appeared in a number of Gary\u2019s films, including Miles from Home<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Of Mice and Men<\/em>. She retired from acting in 2003, although she briefly returned for an appearance in Harold Pinter\u2019s<\/strong> The Birthday Party<\/i> at Steppenwolf Theatre in 2013.<\/p>\n

Their First Wedding Was Called Off<\/h2>\n

In his 2019 memoir, Grateful American: A Journey From Self To Service<\/em>, Gary revealed they had to cancel their first wedding ceremony. He claimed that the pair had planned everything, down to the invitations and wedding date, but a few days before the wedding, the couple broke their engagement over cold feet, only to reconcile a few days later.<\/p>\n

Born on November 9, 1988, Sophie Sinise <\/strong>is the eldest child of Gary and Moira. She is also an actress, making her acting debut in a 2010 episode of CSI: N.Y<\/em>., which also boasts her father as a cast member. McCanna Anthony Sinise<\/strong>, born on November 10, 1990, was the only son of the married couple. Mac, however, died at the age of 33 in January 2024 from a rare spinal cancer.<\/p>\n

Born in 2011, Ella<\/strong> rounds out the big brood as the youngest child.<\/p>\n

Moira Struggled With Substance Abuse Disorder<\/h2>\n

Moira tried rehab for her alcohol abuse disorder twice before she was finally able to dive into sobriety, according to Gary\u2019s memoir. \u201cI\u2019d get rid of all the booze in the house, but then I\u2019d open a top cabinet and find a bottle tucked far away in the back,\u201d he wrote. After a three-month rehab stint in 1997, Gary wrote that his wife had not touched \u201ca drop of alcohol\u201d since.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
