Rockstar Games,\u00a0a division of\u00a0Take-Two Interactive Software<\/a> Inc., will ask employees to return to the office five days a week beginning in April as the video-game maker\u00a0enters the final stages of development on its next game, the\u00a0hotly anticipated<\/a>\u00a0Grand Theft Auto VI<\/em>.<\/p>\n In an email to staff on Wednesday reviewed by Bloomberg, Rockstar Head of Publishing Jenn Kolbe said the decision was made for productivity and security reasons. The company has faced several security breaches including\u00a0a massive dump of early footage<\/a>\u00a0from the new\u00a0Grand Theft Auto\u00a0<\/em>and an early trailer that\u00a0leaked in December.<\/p>\n Kolbe wrote that the company also found \u201ctangible benefits\u201d from in-person work.\u00a0\u201cMaking these changes now puts us in the best position to deliver the next\u00a0Grand Theft Auto\u00a0<\/em>at the level of quality and polish we know it requires, along with a publishing roadmap that matches the scale and ambition of the game,\u201d\u00a0she wrote.<\/p>\n Return-to-office mandates have been a hot topic across various\u00a0industries since the pandemic forced myriad employees to work from home. More recently, many employers have asked staff to return to the office for two or three days a\u00a0week. A study last month found that remote work\u00a0did not have an impact<\/a>\u00a0on productivity.<\/p>\n The issue\u00a0has been particularly controversial among video-game workers\u00a0thanks to the\u00a0volatility<\/a>\u00a0of the industry and its lack of a centralized workforce.
