One of Travis Kelce<\/a> <\/strong>and\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s biggest fans is a member of Chiefs Kingdom! Dave Merritt<\/strong>, the defensive back coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, praised the couple and Taylor\u2019s support of the team throughout the 2023-2024 NFL season. \u201cShe actually affected the team in a positive way,\u201d Dave said on The Sports Shop With Reese & Kmac<\/a> <\/em>on February 23. \u201cEverybody was excited that Travis was happy. So when my player, my brother, is happy beside me, that helps me and that encourages me,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Dave noted that Travis became \u201ca different man\u201d after he started dating<\/a> Taylor last summer, and gave credit to the pop star for the Chiefs\u2019 success. \u201cShe won a Super Bowl in her first year in the NFL,\u201d he joked on the podcast, recorded two weeks after the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII<\/a>. \u201cHow about that?\u201d<\/p>\n

While Taylor made her first public appearance<\/a> to support Travis at the Chiefs game on September 24, Dave revealed that the \u201cLove Story\u201d singer \u201cstarted to come around privately\u201d before that amidst her romance with the tight end. \u201cShe was coming into the stadiums without people really knowing until the camera put the big spotlight on her,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut upon meeting her, I felt like she actually added to what it was that we were trying to do,\u201d Dave continued. \u201cBecause there were so many people that were hating the fact that she was being shown on TV, that you know what, you\u2019re part of our family because you\u2019re now with Travis, so therefore you\u2019re our little sister or you\u2019re whatever it may be, you\u2019re part of family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Travis\u2019s teammates and coaches have shown support<\/a> for his relationship with Taylor since they started dating. Andy Reid<\/strong><\/a>, the head coach of the team, called Taylor \u201ca good girl\u201d during a podcast interview two weeks before the Super Bowl. \u201cAnd I\u2019m happy for Trav,\u201d Andy added. \u201cAnd there has been no distraction that way at all. Trav\u2019s handled it right, she\u2019s handled it right and we just move forward. So it hasn\u2019t been a problem at all.\u201d Andy also revealed that he met Taylor years ago<\/a> from knowing her dad Scott Swift<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Patrick Mahomes<\/strong><\/a>, the quarterback for the Chiefs, also approves<\/a> of the relationship. \u201cAt first, I felt like everybody kind of stayed away, just let him do what he was doing. And then he started bringing Taylor around,\u201d Patrick said about his initial reaction to Travis and Taylor\u2019s relationship on CBS Mornings\u00a0<\/em>in December. \u201cHe realized how cool of a person she was \u2014 and she is,\u201d the dad-of-two<\/a> added. \u201cSo for us, there was a couple jokes here and there at the beginning, but now she\u2019s Kingdom now. She\u2019s apart of the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor went to 13 Chiefs games during the latest NFL season, including the Super Bowl in Las Vegas on February 11. She embraced Travis<\/a> on the field with a hug and kiss after his team won. They continued the celebrations at an afterparty<\/a> where they danced and kissed to her music at a club.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
