For that, we apologize,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While there had been immediate concerns that AT&amp;T<br \/>\n        <a data-track-hover=\"QuotePeek\" data-charting-symbol=\"STOCK\/US\/XNYS\/T\" class=\"qt-chip positive\" href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/investing\/stock\/T?mod=MW_story_quote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">T,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203165245\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.27%<\/bg-quote><\/a><br \/>\n       had been the victim of hackers, the company<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/at-t-confirms-service-outage-while-verizon-says-its-network-is-running-fine-eaffb750\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"icon none\" rel=\"noopener\"> said late Thursday<\/a> that the problem was caused by a software update, \u201cnot a cyber attack.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Stankey did not specify how widespread the outage was, but said about 25% of its customers were not able to access the network starting around 6 a.m. Eastern, with service fully restored by early afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Consumer and small-business customers who were affected will see an automatic account credit for a full day of service to compensate them for the inconvenience, Stankey said.
