In 1913, it pioneered the commercialisation of Valentine\u2019s Day with its Valentine\u2019s cards industry, which was later followed by the chocolate, flower, and jewellery industries in the mid-80s.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While some local variations persist, globalised cultural exports have impacted how Valentine\u2019s Day is celebrated today. It is argued that our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/valentines-day-a-global-perspective_b_6657438\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">perspective on romantic relationships <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is changing due to this phenomenon and that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipsos.com\/en\/valentines-day-around-world\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the ways we express love<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across cultures fade in favour of Western and patriarchal \u2018norms\u2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With digitalisation,<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/euranetplus-inside.eu\/genz-ers-and-love-flutter-then-land\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dating has begun to take a different shape<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and young people are opening up to ideas of fluidity, non-restrictive commitments, and open communication.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But while some struggle to reform relationships to be more equal and inclusive, some are very upset about it; blaming these changing standards for their loneliness.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lovelessness and growing resentment have produced a toxic online culture based on misogyny, where feminists are perceived as being the ultimate problem. We talk love, incels, and why this couldn\u2019t be any more wrong with today\u2019s guests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/linktr.ee\/faris.kurubooshti\"><b>Faris Cuchi Gezahgen<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is an intersectional LGBTQIA* activist, performance artist, and Ethiopian Queer knowledge and culture producer. They are the co-founder of House of Guramayle and the vice-chair of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/afrorainbow.at\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Afro Rainbow Austria<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; the first organisation established by and for African LGBTQI+ communities in Austria.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.su.se\/english\/profiles\/cafr8803-1.463443?open-collapse-boxes=body-research\"><b>Carin Franzen<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been a professor of Comparative Literature at the Department of Culture and Aesthetics at Stockholm University since 2020. In her research, she investigates the history of subjectivity in premodern as well as modern and contemporary European literature and deals with formations of subjectivity.
