Barbie<\/em> director\u00a0Greta Gerwig <\/strong>has finally opened up about the infamous snub from the Best Director category at the upcoming Academy Awards<\/a>. Though Ryan Gosling<\/strong><\/a> and America Ferrera<\/strong><\/a> received nominations for their respective roles<\/a>, both of the women at the helm of the movie were left out \u2014 Greta and the film\u2019s star, Margot Robbie<\/strong><\/a>. But surprisingly, Greta isn\u2019t put out by the snub, and in fact pointed out the positives.<\/p>\n

\u201cA friend\u2019s mom said to me, \u2018I can\u2019t believe you didn\u2019t get nominated,’\u201d she said in an interview for TIME<\/a><\/em> published on Wednesday, February 21. \u201cI said, \u2018But I did. I got an Oscar nomination,’\u201d Greta related. \u201cShe was like, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s wonderful for you!\u2019 I was like, \u2018I know!’\u201d<\/p>\n

Barbie<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>was, in fact, nominated for Best Picture \u2014 and as a director, it\u2019s no small feat to garner a nod for best film of the year. Greta and her husband, fellow writer\/ director Noah Baumbach<\/strong>, also scored a nod for Best Adapted Screenplay. Still, the Little Women<\/em> director couldn\u2019t help but regret Margot\u2019s omission from the Best Actress in a Leading Role. \u201cOf course I wanted it for Margot,\u201d Greta admitted. \u201cBut I\u2019m just happy we all get to be there together.\u201d<\/p>\n
