The A Star Is Born <\/i>actress<\/a> first met James in 1996 after her friends set them up. The pair quickly hit it off and got married two years later.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In her memoir, My Name Is Barbra<\/i>, the actress recalled that she wasn\u2019t looking for anyone to fall in love with when she met James. In one excerpt of her book, Barbra wrote that meeting him came \u201cat a point in my life when I had basically given up on finding someone. And frankly, I was all right with being on my own.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the real reason our relationship has endured is that we\u2019re both willing to work at it,\u201d the Meet the Fockers<\/i> star explained. \u201cJim and I are very different. As he\u2019s said to me, \u2018You\u2019re an expert at looking for what\u2019s wrong, while I\u2019m just happy to wake up in the morning.\u2019 (He\u2019ll live much longer than me. During a 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/i><\/a>, Jon referred to Barbra as \u201cthe love of my life,\u201d and he admitted that he \u201cowed her.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShe was probably the love of my life. Yeah. She was the most captivating, interesting, creative person I have ever met,\u201d Jon told the publication. \u201cI owe her. I will always owe her for giving me the life that I\u2019ve had.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two maintained a friendship long after their romance ended, as he told the outlet that he \u201cjust talked to her yesterday\u201d at the time. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI saw her on the cover of W<\/i>,\u201d Jon pointed out. \u201cShe looks gorgeous. I said, \u2018You look 20 years old. The legs!\u2019\u201d Nevertheless, he didn\u2019t directly tell her that he voted for controversial former president Donald Trump <\/b><\/a>during the 2016 election.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShe would not talk to me if she knew,\u201d Jon added about Barbra if she had found out that he voted for the businessman.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
