A rookie games<\/a> developer has earned around \u00a3280,000 ($353,000) from a series of games made in a matter of minutes from his spare bedroom.<\/p>\n TJ Gardner<\/a> is the creator of the \u201cStroke\u201d collection of games<\/a>, which has resulted in more than 120,000 PlayStation<\/a> users paying \u00a33.29 to pet virtual hamsters, dogs, beavers, and other animals.<\/p>\n Yes, that\u2019s right. The aim of the \u2018game\u2019 is nothing more than stroking pets, which is an excellent example of seizing an opportunity.<\/p>\n Gardner, from north-west London, has spoken on the short production time of his titles with a full admission of their rudimentary style.<\/p>\n \u201cThe first one, I\u2019ll be honest, probably took seven or eight hours, but the subsequent ones \u2014 \u2018Stroke the Beaver,\u2019 for example \u2014 would have taken about half an hour.\u201d<\/p>\n As mentioned above, a not-so-subtle inclusion of innuendo has worked wonders for his exploits, with the range of animals extending to dik-diks \u2014 as well as snakes and fish.<\/p>\n Gamers simply press an X on the controller to stroke the animal, that\u2019s it. No sound effects, no animation, no bells or whistles, nothing.<\/p>\n Gardner added, \u201cIt depends how you define \u2018game.\u2019 There is interaction, granted, that interaction is very limited, but it is there, and there is a goal \u2014 I\u2019ll happily admit it\u2019s not hard, it\u2019s not complex, but it is still a video game.\u201d<\/p>\n With the sole focus on providing for his young family, the self-taught developer has no regrets, and it is easy to see why.
