Tesla<\/a> chief designer Franz von Holzhausen plays a starring role in the company\u2019s workplace wellness offerings.<\/p>\n Von Holzhausen, who works closely with CEO Elon Musk, has started hosting what some call \u201cFranzFit\u201d training sessions, according to a profile<\/a> by The Wall Street Journal<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n A team of about 300 Tesla<\/a> staffers, including von Holzhausen, work out of a design studio in Los Angeles next to SpaceX<\/a> headquarters. A few years ago, a CrossFit trainer began offering lunchtime exercise classes<\/a>. Now von Holzhausen, who designed Tesla\u2019s Cybertruck, often leads workouts himself\u2014in the company\u2019s parking lot, no less.<\/p>\n People who work closely with von Holzhausen described the 55-year-old as \u201cdecisive, hard to fluster and open to new ideas, qualities that have helped him form a close bond with Musk and thrive at a company known for high executive churn,\u201d wrote Rebecca Elliott in WSJ<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t like to lose. Maybe it\u2019s a good outlet for that,\u201d von Holzhausen said referencing the workouts.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Tesla exec is part of a line of tech leaders who are sharing their wellness habits with employees to help create a healthier\u2014and more productive\u2014office culture. <\/p>\n Workplace consulting firm Gallop<\/a> suggests that when an employee\u2019s well-being suffers, so does the company\u2019s bottom line, and when employee well-being is a priority, there are lower rates of burnout<\/a> and higher performance standards.<\/p>\n It\u2019s why Will Ahmed, the founder and CEO of WHOOP<\/a> and former captain of the Harvard squash team, prioritizes sleep for both himself and his employees. Because of this, WHOOP offers a sleep bonus<\/a> of $100 per month to every employee who averages 85% of their personal sleep need.<\/p>\n \u201cBy incentivizing sleep, we are helping our team stay healthy and optimize their focus\u201d Ahmed previously told Fortune<\/em>.<\/p>\n Eight Sleep<\/a> CEO and cofounder Matteo Franceschetti also is an advocate for sleep, so all employees receive the Eight Sleep Pod for free, \u201cas a way for us to invest in their well-being through sleep fitness<\/a>,\u201d he previously told Fortune<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe don\u2019t shy away from asking each other how we sleep<\/a> and making sure we are all prioritizing this recovery time so that we can bring our best game to the working hours.\u201d<\/p>\n Bobbie Lloyd, CEO of Magnolia Bakery<\/a>\u2014or, self-proclaimed \u201cchief baking officer\u201d\u2014treks an hour to work almost every day by foot. She says her nearly three mile walk is a crucial ingredient in her own recipe for success<\/a>, which helps her lead and support her team.<\/p>\n \u201cI always take care of my health,\u201d she previously told Fortune<\/em>. \u201cWhether it\u2019s walking<\/a>, running, yoga<\/a>, mental health<\/a>, meditating<\/a>, stretching<\/a>, I\u2019ve done it my entire life.\u201d<\/p>\n Lloyd\u2019s morning routine paves the way for her 12-hour workday. \u201cIt\u2019s a long day, but I love what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
