Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s job can be hard to describe to a child. But one of his favorite hobbies these days\u2014producing beef\u2014is easier to understand.<\/p>\n
The Meta CEO recently revealed that his daughter misunderstood what his main job was.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFor a while, she just thought that I was a cattle rancher,\u201d the Facebook<\/a> cofounder told<\/a> Morning Brew Daily on Friday.<\/p>\n While Zuckerberg\u2019s fascination with martial arts has been well documented, he\u2019s also intent on producing some of the best beef on the planet\u2014not to sell commercially, but to enjoy with friends and family.<\/p>\n The tech billionaire is raising cattle on Ko\u2019olau Ranch, a property he owns on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. In an Instagram post<\/a> last month, he wrote:\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cStarted raising cattle at Ko\u2019olau Ranch on Kauai, and my goal is to create some of the highest quality beef in the world. The cattle are wagyu and angus, and they\u2019ll grow up eating macadamia meal and drinking beer that we grow and produce here on the ranch.\u201d<\/p>\n Zuckerberg has no shortage of land on the island. According to a Wired<\/em> investigation<\/a> published a few months ago, the property includes 1,400 acres. \u201cLess than one percent of the overall land is developed with the vast majority dedicated to farming, ranching, conservation, open spaces, and wildlife preservation,\u201d a spokesperson for Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan told the technology publication.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want the whole process to be local and vertically integrated,\u201d Zuckerberg wrote on Instagram. \u201cEach cow eats 5,000-10,000 pounds of food each year, so that\u2019s a lot of acres of macadamia trees. My daughters help plant the mac trees and take care of our different animals. We\u2019re still early in the journey and it\u2019s fun improving on it every season.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Zuckerberg jokes with his family that \u201cif I\u2019m ever done with Meta, I\u2019m going to run Mark\u2019s Meats,\u201d he told Morning Brew.<\/p>\n Such an operation would be easier for a child to understand than Meta\u2019s offerings, which include Facebook, Instagram, and the metaverse.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIf you\u2019re a kid, it\u2019s kinda hard to wrap your head around what Meta is,\u201d Zuckerberg noted.<\/p>\n As for raising cattle, \u201cI just think it\u2019s super fun,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s like, \u2018Alright, let\u2019s brew our own beer.
