Jordin Sparks<\/strong><\/a>, 34, may be a new judge on American Idol<\/em><\/a> in the future if she has her way! The singer, who won the show at the age of 17 in 2007, took to Twitter to share a message that revealed she\u2019s interested in the gig after current judge Katy Perry<\/strong><\/a> announced she\u2019ll be leaving the show<\/a> after the upcoming 22nd season. \u201cOh hiiii <\/span>@AmericanIdol<\/span>\u2014I hear a seat opened up at the judges table! I\u2019m putting my name in the hat!\u201d she wrote along with a raising hand emoji.<\/span><\/p>\n

Soon after she shared the message, Jordin\u2019s followers took to the comment section to respond with their thoughts. \u201cThis would be amazing!\u201d one follower wrote, while another wrote, \u201cThat would be iconic!\u201d A third shared, \u201cThat would be epic\u201d and a fourth exclaimed, \u201cThis is what we want to see!\u201d<\/p>\n

Jordin\u2019s latest message comes after Katy shocked American Idol<\/em> viewers when she announced she was leaving the show after seven seasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cActually, this fall, in September, I\u2019m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio, it\u2019s really exciting, it\u2019s a big deal for people all over the world, especially for my Brazilian fans. I think this will probably be my last show, my last season for\u00a0Idol<\/em>,\u201d Katy said during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em> earlier this week. \u201cI love Idol<\/em>\u00a0so much, it\u2019s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat, you know what I\u2019m saying, Jimmy?\u201d<\/p>\n
