It took Microsoft three years since Game Pass launched in 2017 to get to <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/xbox-game-pass-10-million-subscribers-114529988.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:10 million;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">10 million<\/a> subscribers in April 2020. In the next five months, the company <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/xbox-game-pass-15-million-subscribers-150418077.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:added;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">added<\/a> five million subscribers, and hit <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/xbox-game-pass-grows-to-18-million-subscribers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:18 million;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">18 million<\/a> subscribers by January 2021, a growth rate of nearly 90 percent per year. A year later, the company announced that Game Pass had <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:5;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/microsoft-game-pass-25-million-subscribers-151432036.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:25 million;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:5;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">25 million<\/a> subscribers. Over the last two years, Game Pass has added nine million subscribers, which would be an average annual increase of just 18 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Game Pass lets players pay a monthly fee to Microsoft for unlimited access to an evolving library of games that they can play on their consoles or PCs. In an announcement on Thursday, the brand\u2019s leaders <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:6;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/xbox-confirms-four-of-its-games-are-coming-to-more-popular-consoles-201419203.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:revealed plans;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:6;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">revealed plans<\/a> to bring Xbox games to more platforms including the PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch, both of which have far more users than Xbox.
