{"id":205539,"date":"2024-02-10T17:07:18","date_gmt":"2024-02-10T17:07:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/michigandigitalnews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/10\/meta-will-no-longer-prompt-political-content-across-apps\/"},"modified":"2025-06-25T17:21:56","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T17:21:56","slug":"meta-will-no-longer-prompt-political-content-across-apps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michigandigitalnews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/10\/meta-will-no-longer-prompt-political-content-across-apps\/","title":{"rendered":"Meta will no longer prompt political content across apps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/meta-enhances-teen-protection-against-sextortion-with-global-initiatives\/\">Meta<\/a> is set to stop promoting political content across the company\u2019s social apps.<\/p>\n<p>In a report released on both <a href=\"https:\/\/transparency.fb.com\/en-gb\/features\/approach-to-political-content\/\">Meta\u2019s Transparency Centre<\/a> and an <a href=\"https:\/\/about.instagram.com\/blog\/announcements\/continuing-our-approach-to-political-content-on-instagram-and-threads\/\">Instagram blog post<\/a>, the content-sharing giant made its approach clear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople have told us they want to see less political content, so we have spent the last few years refining our approach on Facebook to reduce the amount of political content \u2013 including from politicians\u2019 accounts \u2013 you see in Feed, Reels, Watch, Groups You Should Join, and Pages You May Like,\u201d the report read.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/meta-tightens-teen-safety-on-facebook-and-instagram-with-new-dm-restrictions\/\">company<\/a> stated that following a political account will not result in related or linked accounts being proactively suggested if this isn\u2019t your cup of tea.<\/p>\n<h2>Facebook<\/h2>\n<p>According to the announcement, <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/meta-makes-ai-generated-labels-a-standard-across-facebook-instagram-and-threads\/\">artificial intelligence <\/a>(AI) algorithms will also play their part in <a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2023\/06\/how-ai-ranks-content-on-facebook-and-instagram\/\">considering<\/a> \u201cpersonalized signals, like survey responses, that help us understand what is informative, meaningful, or worth your time\u201d on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>The posts also state that the customization of preferences can be made via <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/facebook-meta-celebrating-20-years-of-astounding-innovation-and-conflicting-emotions\/\">Facebook<\/a> \u2018Feed Preferences\u2019 and that the AI recommendations and personalization can be limited.<\/p>\n<p>The releases announced, \u201cIf you don\u2019t want AI systems to personalize your Feed at all, you can use the Feeds tab, which will rank posts chronologically.
