The company said the update won\u2019t affect how people see posts from accounts they\u2019ve chosen to follow. \u201cOur goal is to preserve the ability for people to choose to interact with political content, while respecting each person\u2019s appetite for it,\u201d Mosseri said.<\/p>\n<p>The change is the latest way Meta has tried to discourage Threads users from discussing topics it considers potentially problematic. The company <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/meta-is-blocking-potentially-sensitive-topics-from-threads-search-231028963.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:blocks;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">blocks <\/a>\u201cpotentially sensitive\u201d topics, including vaccine and covid-related terms, from search results in Threads. Mosseri has <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.threads.net\/@mosseri\/post\/CuZ3LjhNl0m\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:also said;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a> that Meta doesn\u2019t want to \u201cencourage\u201d users to post about \u201cpolitics and hard news\u201d in the app.<\/p>\n<p>But the change could also cause a new backlash among users and creators, some of whom already believe Meta unfairly suppresses certain types of content.
