Toby Keith<\/strong><\/a>, 62, was one of country music\u2019s biggest stars, but he was also a doting father to three children. The singer<\/a>, who sadly passed away<\/a> on February 5 at the age of 62 after battling cancer, shared his brood with his wife, Tricia Lucus<\/strong><\/a>, whom he married in 1984. Following his death, his son and youngest child\u00a0Stelen\u00a0<\/strong>penned a beautiful memorial for his dad on social media.<\/p>\n

Stelen shared an old photo of him and his dad in a pool together. In the caption, he wrote a loving tribute to his late father. \u201cYou are the strongest man I have ever known. A fighter. A true titan of your industry. My guiding star. My coach. My hero,\u201d he wrote. \u201cAn embodiment of the American Spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Toby revealed he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2021, in a social media message<\/a>, he admitted it was very important to him to spend time with his wife and kids as he recovered from months of treatment.\u201c\u200b\u200bLast fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,\u201d he shared on Instagram<\/a> in 2022. \u201cI\u2019ve spent the last six months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before Toby died, his kids got to see their dad receive a milestone achievement<\/a> \u2014 \u00a0he got the Country Icon Award at the People\u2019s Choice Country Awards in September 2023. Ahead of the ceremony, he spoke out about his health. Toby thanked his \u201cbeautiful family<\/a>\u201d when he was on stage accepting the award.<\/p>\n

Shelley Covel Rowland<\/strong> is Keith and Tricia\u2019s oldest daughter. She was born to Tricia in 1980 from a previous relationship and Keith adopted her and raised her as his own once he became romantically involved with Tricia years later. Although Shelley has kept her life as private as possible over the years, she did make a rare public appearance with her parents at a a SwingDish launch event in Las Vegas, NV in 2015. She went on to get married and have two children, making Toby a grandfather, according to Country Fancast<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Krystal Keith<\/strong> is Toby and Tricia\u2019s second oldest daughter<\/a>. She was born in 1985, the year after her parents got married. Like her dad, whose real last name is Covel, she decided to go with the stage last name of Keith, when in the public eye. Unlike her older sister, she\u2019s been in the spotlight with her singing talents. She first got major attention for her singing when she sang \u201cMockingbird,\u201d which was on her dad\u2019s Greatest Hits 2<\/em> album in 2004. She also joined him on stage at the 2004 CMAs<\/a> to sing the epic tune.<\/p>\n

Krystal graduated from the University of Oklahoma and then signed a record deal with Show Dog-Universal Music. She went on to release various EPs and the 2013 album\u00a0Whiskey & Lace<\/i>. She wrote one of her most popular songs, \u201cDaddy Dance with Me,\u201d about Toby and performed it on her wedding day when she married Andrew Robert Sandubrae<\/b> in 2010. After saying \u201cI do,\u201d she and Andrew welcomed two daughters, including Hensley Jack Sandubrae<\/strong>, who was born in 2015, and Kirby Kaye Sandubrae<\/strong>, who was born in 2019. She often shares memorable moments with her family, in photos and videos on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stelen Keith Covel<\/strong> is Toby and Tricia\u2019s only son. He was born in 1997 and is an investor who works in venture management, according to his Instagram<\/a>. In addition to a having a successful career, he has a loving marriage. He married his girlfriend Haley<\/strong>, in Boulder City in 2021 and he often shares photos<\/a> with her on social media. One of his first posts included a photo of him as a kid with Toby. \u201cTell me where I get it from. Man they always wonder who, then they meet my pops and tell him Stelen\u2019s just another you,\u201d he wrote alongside it.<\/p>\n

In Stelen\u2019s tribute to his dad, he wrote about how his dad was a wonderful father and husband. He also called him \u201cthe best mentor a man could ask for,\u201d as he sang his praises. \u201cYour impact is forever stamped on the world and on millions of people, yet not one person knew you the way I did. You were my biggest champion and the guiding light in my darkest times,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Stelen continued and said that he would continue to try to make his dad \u201cproud\u201d of him. \u201cThe only thing I truly ever wanted in life was to make you proud. I promise I will continue to make you proud,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s not goodbye forever; it\u2019s just goodbye for now. I love you cowboy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
